Whether you’re looking for lessons for your child or yourself, the Suzuki approach is definitely THE BEST way to learn!
It’s SO important for students to develop good posture, a great “set-up” on their instrument and a beautiful sound (or tone) right from the beginning. This is very close to my heart and I make sure that each student has as much time as they need to get the best possible start on their violin or viola.
When young kids learn the Suzuki way they copy what they hear, the same way they learned to speak their first language (or mother-tongue). They listen to their music daily. The practice parent/caregiver attends lessons with them, encourages, and practices with the child at home between lessons. It isn’t necessary for parents to have any prior musical experience. Once students are older they can learn more independently.
Individual lessons take place weekly at my home studio and the kids have group class with their peers every 2 weeks.
I’m very excited to announce that this September, we are also starting a community string orchestra in Scotland for all levels of violin, viola, cello and bass players. Anyone is welcome and you don’t have to be taking lessons.
